In Metro Denver, white households have 10 times the wealth of Black households and 8 times that of Hispanic households. This isn't by accident – it's the result of economic systems that concentrate wealth and opportunity in the hands of a few while extracting resources from our communities
But together, we can change this.
CCW envisions a people-owned, inclusive, and sustainable Metro Denver economy that fosters prosperous and resilient communities free from racism and injustice.
But together, we can change this.
CCW’s values drive how we show up in the world. They are our touchstones when designing our strategies and developing our programs. We strive to uphold them in our relationships within our organization and in our work with our community partners.
At CCW, we believe a fair, effective, and sustainable economy is rooted in economic justice. Fundamentally, this means that our economic systems should provide a means by which those who have been historically and systematically excluded from the opportunity to build wealth can gain access to those opportunities. Given the unique ways in which lack of access to opportunity is intertwined with racism in the United States, we believe economic justice also means racial justice. In economic terms, we believe racial justice demands the elimination of the racial wealth gap, and the opportunity for those who have been excluded to design the means of their own liberation. We thus believe that self-determination is essential for economic justice and is the foundation of thriving communities. We will know we are on the road to economic justice when our historically and currently excluded communities experience increases in income and wealth and realize the opportunity to live with dignity and self-determination.
